Dmitriy Volkov, “Tovarish Dima”, is a physics graduate from RWTH Aachen with a focus on nanoelectronics. As part of his Master thesis he joined PGI9 in FZJ, where he focused on devices and experiments with magnetic-field dependent qubits. Guided by a passion for gaining insight into complex systems at scale he joined PGI13, where he’ll contribute to making useful quantum systems a reality. When he’s not doing physics he can be spotted making vodka cocktails and driving at high speeds on the A44, hopefully not simultaneously.

Fun facts: Owns a helicopter license, co-owns two cats, and his life’s dream is to open an ocean diving school in Paraguay - yes we know it’s a landlocked country, but who are we to trample on his dreams.
