One of the outstanding scientific challenges is the construction of an architecture and development of a methodology that can enable useful quantum computing.

Our mission is to lay the scientific and technological foundations to make this a reality. We use superconducting qubits, which operate at near-zero temperatures and are controlled by high-speed electronic signals. We work on developing the quantum devices as well as the gates and algorithm implementations. We’re a diverse team that operates at the intersection of scientific exploration and engineering insight.

PhD positions are available for developing scalable superconducting quantum systems. We are a diverse team and keen to maintain a supportive working environment in which everyone feels welcome and able to contribute to our team’s success. In this spirit, we strongly encourage applications from all underrepresented groups in Physics and Engineering. Full details can be found on FZ Jülich’s careers portal.
