Biography

Sophie did her integrated master’s in physics at the University of Nottingham. Her thesis was conducted jointly with the University of Tübingen, and investigated driven-dissipative non-linear quantum oscillators, studying dynamical phases that could facilitate associative memory systems.

During her time at university, she undertook two summer placements. One was at the UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre, which centred on numerical studies of Fluxonium qubits. The other was with the University of Nottingham. This involved a beamtime at Diamond Light Source, helping look at Altermagnetism in MnTe, and writing image processing scripts. In her spare time, she worked on student projects in the Aerospace Engineering department and co-ran a community garden.
